Course Information

This programme run under the Autonomous System is affiliated to Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.


The degree enables you to combine an in depth study of Social Sciences.


The degree has a strong emphasis on theory and practice


The aim of this degree is to impart knowledge and skills to the students.

 

Eligibility for Admission

A candidate who has passed the Two Year Pre-University Course (10+2) of the Pre-University Board in the State of Karnataka or H. S. Sc/CBSC/ISCE or any other course considered as equivalent thereto by Rani Channamma University, is eligible for admission to B. A.
           programme.


Students passing the examination of other Boards shall produce Eligibility Letter from the Registrar, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi

Prescribed application form for B.A. I Semester (Autonomous) can be had from the College office. Do not enclose original certificates along with your application form


 

Admission Policy and Procedure

Admissions shall be made according to the existing rules of admission of Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.


Admission shall be made according to the reservation policy of Government of Karnataka.


The following original certificates should be produced at the time of admission.


  • PUC II year marks card.

  • The candidate who has passed an examination other than the Pre-University Board of Karnataka should produce eligibility certificate from the
       Registrar, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.

  • Three passport size photographs.

  • Community certificate in original and two Xerox copies attested by Gazetted Officer
  •  

    Duration of the Course

    Three academic years consisting of six semesters


    Two semesters in each academic year


    Each semester consists of 16 weeks of instructional work


    The candidate shall complete his/her degree within six years from the date of admission to the first semester of the degree course.


     

    Medium of Instruction

    The medium of instruction and examination shall be Kannada or English


     

    Teaching Methodology

    The methodology involves regular teaching, classroom lectures, seminars, assignments etc. As per UGC norms the teacher assumes the role of facilitator to ensure "lifelong learning" of a student.

    B.A. - FIFTH AND SIXTH SEMESTER

    A. Group - I

    The students shall study any one of the modern Indian Languages (MIL) listed below. The paper carries 100 marks.

    English (MEL- Modern European Language)

    Hindi (MEL-Modern Indian Languages)

    Urdu (MEL-Modern Indian Languages)


    A. Group - II

    The optional papers chosen for B.A.I to IV semester shall be studied for V and VI semester also.

    Each optional subject will have two papers of 100 marks each i.e. a total of 200 marks.

    The optional subjects with practicals will have additional two practical papers with 50 marks each.

    Course Work & Assessment

    A variety of teaching and assessment methods are used throughout the course including lectures, workshops, seminars, projects, group exercises, tutorials, home assignments, quiz, monthly tests, mid term and preliminary examinations with the aim of helping students to become independent learners equipped with practical skills and competency

    The Students of Geography & Psychology undergo practical training and journal presentation.

    Classification of successful candidates

    Classification of successful candidates

    Only those candidates who have studied and completed all the six semesters in the first attempt itself, within the stipulated period of three years from Rani Channamma University, shall be eligible for ranking provided they secure 60% and above marks.

    There shall be separate examination for theory and practical examinations. A candidate who fails in practical examination and passes in theory examination shall have to appear for practical examination only and vice-versa.

    The successful candidates shall be classified as under for the award of class, based on the aggregate marks obtained in the optional subjects in all the six semesters.

  • 70% and above - Distinction
  • 60% and above but less than 70% - First Class
  • 50% and above but less than 60% - Second Class
  • 40% and above but less than 50% - Pass Class
  • The students have also the option to improve his/her performance in one or all papers of the respective semester. The details of the same may be obtained from the college office.

    There is no provision for applying for improvement of the results in respect of internal assessment, practicals, project reports, viva, field works etc.

    Degree Awarding Body

    The course is affiliated to Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. The Internal as well as the End Semester examination shall be conducted by the College. At the end of the course (after successful completion of Six semesters) the degree shall be awarded by the Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.

    Attendance mode

    Full Time

    A minimum of 75% of attendance is compulsory according to the rules prescribed by the University.

    Students failing to attend the required percentage of classes will not be allowed for the End Semester examinations.

    Shortage of attendance shall be informed to the parents periodically.
