I. Introduction

Mass media has occupied a significant place in the lives of the people around the world. Journalism being a part of Mass media is playing a vital role in disseminating information. The socio-economic and political issues are highlighted by the Mass Media for the benefit of the people. This is done without any fear and favour. The horizons of the field are expanding day by day to exploit the expansion in the field. There is a need to provide skills of Journalism to our students and to those interested. Hence this course is started from the academic year 2008-09. It provides the promising students a challenging career. Our present course adds value to the students studying B.A. and B.Com courses.

To make our students employable.

To train writing skills in Kannada

To attain self confidence

To improve communication skills.

To make them understand socio-economic and political issues.

64 hours (Four Months)

IV. Eligibility and intake capacity

PUC/10 + 2 pass

Selection of the Students is based on entrance test (descriptive exam) and oral tests.

Maximum 50 Students are allotted for a batch.

V. Mode of teaching

A variety of teaching methods like lecturer, group exercises, workshops seminars presentations, assignments, tests, etc. are adopted with the aim of helping students to become independent learners equipped with practical skills and competence.

Kannada/ English

Scheme of Examination

The Certificate Course consists of a total Six Units with total of 200 marks. An Examination will be held at the end of the course.

The candidate should secure at least 40% of marks to successfully complete the certificate course.
